Supergroup Project (Jimmy Page - Eric Clapton - Aerosmith)

Jimmy PageAre Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, along with Joe Perry and Brad Whitford of Aerosmith planning some sort of guitar army supergroup? According to engineer Kevin Shirley, something along those lines is in the works.

Writing in his blog, Shirley said that Page and Clapton have joined Perry and Whitford in a recording studio and that he has been working with these guitarists and "many others."

Shirley hinted at a 'supergroup project,' writing that come January he would be "producing what has the promise to be one of the most exciting 'supergroups' to come around in a long time.

"But theory is just that until we see how the dynamics play out in the studio between these superb musicians. And of course the songs will make the real difference."

Shirley has worked with Jimmy Page and Aerosmith in the past. This project, if it comes to fruition, would be his first with Slowhand.

Shirley also writes that he will soon begin remixing "one of Classic Rock's seriously classic albums." If he's in the studio with Eric Clapton, could he be referring to Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs (which marks its 40th anniversary next year)?
